ƒ The history of Earl Flemm
| Earl Flemm's Storied Past |
|
Earl was born along the Mississippi Delta sometime back in the early to mid 60's. His mother died giving birth to Earl. A fact that has haunted him his entire life. His daddy was a sharecropper who did poorly. Life in Mississippi was not all it should be and Earl's daddy pulled up stakes in the early 70's and moved the family which consisted of Clemm Earl's older brother,Earl and his daddy to Chicago.
Earl started playing guitar back in 1974. He bought it with the money he saved up collecting soda bottles on the side of Interstate 94 that ran through Chigago. Earl learned quickly and started hanging outside some of Chicago's blues bars where he would listen intently to the music that was being played indoors |

Earl Flemm and the Fullerbrushmen.
The Fullerbrushmen were the darlings of the music industry in Japan in the late 70's and 80's. We had America in our sites when our frontman Earl suffered a nervous breakdown and spent the last 10 years in a sanitarium in virtual obscurity and loneliness.
A Short Interview with Earl Flemm:
Why or how did you choose your bandname?
Earl Flemm is Earls given name. Before the Fullerbrushmen was launched Earl sold his songs door to door. It was a painfull experience, standing in the living rooms of potential buyers performing his songs as best he could, hoping for a sale. More times then not being physically removed from the premises. Another rejection meant another day not eating. Not unlike the great Fullerbrush salesmen of days gone by.Hence the band name.
Do you play live? Where? Do you like it? Any special moments? We did play live. Across the United States, South America, Europe and Japan (where we were extremely popular back in the eighties and peaked in the early 90's.

From 1987 to the meltdown and demise of the Fullerbrushmen June 22,1995, the band tours and records extensively throughout Europe, South America and Japan.

Earl is released from the Minnesota State Sanitarium - Jan 1, 2005
Earl begins writing and recording with long time friend and confidant Kevin Carey.
Earl will be releasing his 1st album in nearly ten years in July 2005.

The Toylanders
Former Fullerbrushmen Gary Stone and Chris who respectively played Guitar and bass for Earl and the Fullerbrushmen formed a new Band called the Toylanders in 1996 after Earl's long dark spiral into the world of mental illness. About The Toylanders's/Flemm History and Music
The Toylanders are locked into a titanic battle against the evil forces which are now personified in Earl Flemm, an evil musical genie. The toylanders used to play with Earl, backing him as his original Fullerbrushmen, but separated from him to find their own "frickin genie," as Toylander Chris has summed it up. That put Earl in a sanitarium for 10 years.(sob)When Earl realized The Toylanders were having modest success, well, he broke out, re-formed his "brushmen," and burst back onto the music scene with an eerie vengeance. (frown) He (Flemm), now challenges The Toylanders to a "battle of the bands," in Okinawa. to hear all The Toylanders songs songs click here:
